The Conservancy was originally formed in 1999 as the Fell Pony Conservancy of North America. Though the Conservancy now enjoys a new name and the more formal structuring of an incorporated non-profit, it retains the same foundation, emphasizing conservation, education, and the high standards of leadership it has always believed in. It is an Oregon non-profit organization and is in the process of applying for 501-c3 status. The Conservancy runs completely on donations and the generosity of its volunteers, guided by a core staff, board, and external advisory consultants. The Conservancy's mission is to protect the genetic diversity of the Fell pony within the guidelines of the visible and invisible characteristics and breed type of the Fell pony as set forth in the mother registry Fell Pony Society Breed Standard. It will pursue this through collective conservation efforts, educational promotion, and by supporting the network of like-minded breeders, enthusiasts, and breed associations around the globe, with special emphasis on the breed in the Americas. We invite everyone's questions, suggestions,
and especially everyone's participation either as a user or a
volunteer. We hope you will find the continued work of the Conservancy
