Conformation: Strong
legs with emphasis on good flat bone, light to profuse feather on lower
legs, ample mane
and tail, hard blue hooves. Deep through girth, historical soundness in
limb and hoof, appearance of general hardiness with neat pony head.
Movement
& Character:
Tireless, surefooted,
hardy, thrifty. The trot, in particular, should be ground-covering and
active with good impulsion, engaging the hock as opposed to dragging
through the stifle.
Personality:
Clever,
Bold, Cheeky, Savvy, Kind, Willing,
and
Self-Preserving. Fells do not suffer fools or
bulling lightly: they excel in respectful partnerships.
